    February Theater Roundup

By Miryam Gordon · On February 2, 2015

Live Girls! Theater announces the World Premier of Blood/Water/Paint, By Joy McCullough-Carranza, Directed by Amy Poisson, February 20th – March 14th, 2015, Thu – Sat 8pm Monday, March 9th, 8pm, Free Preview Thursday, Feb., 19th

Blood/Water/Paint is an audaciously imaginative and unflinching retelling of the true story of Artemisia Gentileschi, an Italian Baroque painter now considered one of the most accomplished of her generation. Joy McCullough-Carranza weaves the details of her story into a raw and powerful exploration of the power of creation as a tool for survival. Through interactions with the women featured in her own most famous paintings and the process of teaching her daughter to paint the story unfolds of her fierce battle to rise above the most devastating event in her life and fight for justice despite horrific consequences. Blood/Water/Paint is a revealing portrait of a brilliant woman whose accomplishments were buried under the weight of selective history for generations.
