First of all I’d like to point out that I haven’t been a Twin Peaks fan very long. I was only growing up when this show was playing on TV but OF COURSE I am aware of the cult fan base it has. I am definitely excited that it is coming back so I could actually enjoy as a grown up now. I would love to lay in bed all day and have Twin Peaks on Netflix marathon now that I’ve seen a couple episodes!
Just being part of this fierce cast of ladies in Seattle is so exciting.
I had so much fun being Josie Packard for a day. I actually kind of studied her face a little. I feel like what we have in common the most is that we both can be viewed as very innocent at first glance. I can be very timid at times and can seem like an easy target. When I get out and performing, I come out like tiger! I don’t need to be that jungle cat all the time. The biggest difference we have is probably the fact that she is manipulative and very sneaky. I’m for sure not that kind of person. I love working with people and helping people come up.
I have accomplished so many wonderful projects with my band Don’t Talk To The Cops! We have worked hard and completed 3 albums together. In the past 4 years, we’ve performed at many big festivals such as Sasquatch!, Bumbershoot, Capitol Hill Block Party, to SXSW and all the way down to the basement house parties! Before that, I danced, choreographed & competed with dance groups, taught dance to children & performed on stage, television & commercials. I guess you could have called me a full-time dancer.
djblesOne and I have started a company called Real Love. Our first venture with it has been our weekly club night at Havana Social Club called Real Love 90$ Jam$. We are both DJing every Tuesday night playing our favorite ’90s songs while creating a ’90s house party vibe. I am loving drowning myself in 90s music every week because that is what I’m really passionate about. I always really enjoyed and respected turntablism, so becoming a student of DJing has been kind of a childhood dream come true for me.
At the moment, I’m working with Mash Hall on organizing the “Them Team 10 Year Anniversary” bboy battle that is also part of national UDEF Pro Breaking Tour 2015. It’s an all-ages breakdancing competition featuring some of the top bboys from across the country flying into Seattle to compete for $2000 at Q Nightclub on May 9th, 2pm-8pm. I always love to reach out and be involved in the dance community as much as I can whether if it’s behind the scenes or on the stage.
Going forward in 2015, you will see me out DJing more and more for sure (I also play house & underground hiphop). You may or may not hear some new DTTTC! material. *wink* Keep a look out for Real Love putting out mix tapes for your listening pleasure and whatever other crazy creative ideas we come up with.
