Short Run Seattle is this weekend! If you’ve been looking to get your fill of unknown comics and zines by wandering around Fisher Pavilion on Halloween, this is your chance. There’ll be comics trick-or-treating for kids, an enormous bake sale, and the launch of the interactive art installation, The Ghosts of Seattle Past.
Jaimee Garbacik’s Ghosts of Seattle Past is a collaborative anthology and art installation–an atlas of memories, a gigantic conglomeration of places we once loved that vanished just yesterday or long ago. Seattle dwellers’ nostalgic stories are combined with hand-drawn maps of the world we remember that no longer quite exists in the form we remember it. The work-in-progress exhibit and anthology will be unveiled for the first time this Saturday, with plenty of opportunities to get your hands on the work already done and contribute to the finished project by pinning your own lost places to the map. Many local musicians, personalities, and writers contributed to the project (including our Editrix-in-Chief Ma’Chell Duma LaVassar).
Also of note–STACKEDD’s own Katie Wheeler will be exhibiting her amazing comics at Short Run, including her feminist fairytales and a graphic novel, the Age. Katie designed the cover of our recent Guide to Ballard and the upcoming line of STACKEDD merch. Contributor Maxx Follis from Push/Pull will also have works for sale.
