If there is one thing we constantly hear from men regarding our mag it’s that it is sorely lacking the opinions of straight, white men. We want you to know you have been heard and we know what matters to you, so we took the middle-man out of the equation- Here is a conversation with a straight, white, male dick.
Of course, any old dick wouldn’t do. When we stumbled across this image of Martin Mull in the Creem archives local king of comedy Brett Hamil -who seems to have found is calling as a conversation conductor with his latest project The Seattle Process– immediately came to mind. Neither Hamil or his wang flinched when we sent them an email with a subject line that read “Nice to meet you. How comfortable are you with your body?”. And though we could not offer him the same amenities I think we all can agree Martin got -a giant plate of cocaine just out of frame- we hope Brett Sr and Jr had a reasonably good time. You can ask them both about it on twitter and see one of them regularly on youtube.
It was VERY COLD in there! That’s the coziest I’ve gotten with my balls in a long time. The women of STACKEDD were gentle, though. They didn’t want me in the picture but I still managed to photobomb a couple shots.
Brett’s comedy asks probing questions and uncovers hard truths, thrusting into the deep crevices of human experience. I play a very outsized role in his life; we hang constantly. But he’s the one with the brain so I leave the actual joke writing to him, knowing I’m in good hands.
Were you disappointed he didn’t thank you personally on his latest record, Grower? You obviously influenced the title.
He poked a lot of fun at me on the album so I should be angry, but I can never stay mad at that guy for long. I’m swollen with pride to be a part of his first full-length release and immensely thankful for the exposure. Sorry, I’m gushing.
Is it offensive to you when Internet trolls treat you like a vagina?
When those dickheads pop up on Twitter I just (cock) block ‘em.
How has your relationship with Brett benefited his rise to fame here in Seattle?
Brett’s married to an extremely hot and intelligent feminist woman, so I’m well taken care of. I’m proud of any success he has and I feel like I’m a very large part of it. I’m like the unofficial band “member.” But mostly I’m just along for the ride!
